Accessing your Student Loan History
This week, the U.S. Department of Education’s office of Federal Student Aid introduced a new feature on its website StudentAid.gov, permitting current and former students to view their federal student aid history.
Currently aid recipients can access their history through the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), but this development is a part of Federal Student Aid’s attempt to have a single log-in point for students and parents who have received aid.
The StudentAid.gov site will allow you to:
- View details about your loans – This includes total amounts borrowed, outstanding principal & interest on your loans, contact information for your loan servicers, and your current repayment plan.
- Obtain information about your grants – This includes all disbursements and your remaining eligibility for Pell Grant funds.
You should still use NSLDS to update your address or provide an organization authorization.
To log-in go to StudentAid.gov and click on the Log-in box in the upper right hand corner of the screen, and then input your personal information and your PIN. If you forgot your PIN, you can request a duplicate PIN here: https://pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/PINServlet?state=100&locale=en_US
