Happy Veteran’s Day & Thank You for Your Service to Our Country!
The Military and Veteran’s Appreciation Banner has certainly been well traveled around campus this week! One of my favorite moments of this engagement is to hear the stories of service from family members, soldiers and veterans alike. Thank you for taking time to stop by and share your support for our veterans!
Look at some of the kind notes left by students, faculty and staff:
As we reflect on military and veterans today, we want to honor and support holistic mental & physical health. Many of you have likely heard of the 22.Kill effort, often referred to as the 22 Push-up Challenge. We realize that each service member faces, or faced, different circumstances in their service, as well as afterwards.
Bringing awareness to the suicide rates for veterans can stir emotions and even create mixed messages. We would like to share in the positive message of supporting our veterans, by learning more about people and sharing a little of ourselves, too.
If you would like to donate time, funding or other resources to the awareness and support of veteran suicide, you can find resources through your local VA Office and other county services. Here are a couple of websites to help you to get started:
- The Soldier’s Project https://www.thesoldiersproject.org/
- 22Kill https://www.22kill.com/
- Suicide Prevention & Awareness http://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/#
We’d love to see some of your own 22 Push-Up Challenge videos! Feel free to share them as a reply to this posting!
